Siemens Digital Industries Software is the industrial software business of Siemens AG. Its roots go back to United Computing, founded in 1963, which later became UGS and was acquired by Siemens in 2007. For manufacturing operations it offers the Opcenter portfolio, which covers manufacturing execution, advanced planning and scheduling, quality management, research, development and laboratory management, manufacturing intelligence and intra-plant logistics, plus Opcenter X as a SaaS option for small and mid-size manufacturers. The same unit develops product lifecycle management, simulation and electronic design software within the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. It serves discrete and process manufacturers worldwide through direct sales and partners.
